Kazi Nazrul Islam - Domestic Airport in West Bengal

Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport (RDP) also know as KNI Airport (IATA: RDP, ICAO: VEDG), a project under Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Limited (BAPL), is a domestic airport located at Andal, Paschim Bardhaman in West Bengal of India. The airport is roughly 25 km from Asansol’s City Bus Terminus and 15 km from Durgapur’s City Centre in West Bengal, India. The airport’s hinterland comprises the towns of Burdwan, Bankura, Bishnupur, Purulia, Suri, Bolpur/Shantiniketan, Rampurhat in South Bengal and Dhanbad & Bokaro in Jharkhand. It is part of the country’s first private sector Aerotropolis, being developed by Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Limited (BAPL). The airport was officially inaugurated on 19 September 2013.

Following our norms of serving passengers in the quickest possible time, we have made both our arrival and departure processes quick and easy-to-complete. Arrival and departure procedures for our domestic passengers are well defined.

The 5,750 square metre passenger terminal building has a capacity of 1 million passengers per annum and can be expanded in the future to a capacity to 2.5 million per annum. It has six check-in counters in the departure lounge and two baggage conveyor belts at the arrival hall. The terminal has ATMs, & Wi-Fi Services, a Ticket Booking Counter, F & B Outlets and Cab Booking Services.
The airport’s 2,800-metre runway is equipped with a CAT I instrument landing system (ILS) and can handle narrow-body aircraft like Airbus 321 & Boeing 737-900. The airport apron has four parking bays. The airport is equipped with category 7 firefighting and rescue capability
